Important information will be posted here during the school year:
Teacher Responsibilities
It is important for my students and parents to know that I am completely committed to creating a challenging, rigorous, and exciting science experience. As a scientist, I know how vital it is for my students to develop the skills they will need to be successful using science and technology in the classroom and in life. It is my goal to help facilitate student interest in the many fields of science.
Student Responsibilities
It is the students absolute responsibility to insure the following:
1. Pay attention and be actively engaged in the learning process during class.
2. Bring their Agenda to class and write down their science assignments and due dates from my SmartBoard.
3. Not engage in social behavior that interrupts the learning environment in my classroom.
4. Complete all assignments on time. If absent, assignments must be completed immediately when they return.
5. Be safe and focused during the many lab experiments that are conducted in class during the year.

Homework Assignments, Tests, and Quizzes on www.quia.com/web
Throughout the school year, students will be able to complete their homework assignments on quia.com. During the First Quarter, students will be given two attempts to complete their homework assignments. Tests and Quizzes will be given in class. The Second, Third, and Fourth Quarters, students will only be able to make one attempt at their homework assignments. I do this to help students learn non-fiction text comprehension skills by decoding words, looking for context clues, understanding complex science concepts, and developing fluency reading the text. Once students know and understand this routine, then I can increase academic rigor as the year progresses.
